Steele
The Steele is a solid steel firebox door for Billy Smoker Open Fire Cookers, and the door to choose when you want maximum control over low-and-slow cooking. Sealing the firebox holds heat in to maintain steady oven temperatures and cuts smoke and spark spillage through the opening. Being solid rather than glass, it gives near-total blackout, so the firebox interior and the mess of a long cook stay out of sight.
It drops in and lifts out easily, even during a high-output fire, and the latch is built to take heat and rough handling.
Fits across the Open Fire Cooker range. The glass alternative is the Glaze door, sold separately.

The Billy Smoker Open Fire Cookers range has been designed and engineered to meet the safe installation requirements stipulated in AS/NZS 2918 (Australian and New Zealand Standard for installation of solid fuel burning appliances). Defined as cooking appliances, the range complies with AS/NZS 4012 and AS/NZS 4013 (Australian and New Zealand Standards for emissions and efficiency). Meeting the Australian Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) requirements for air quality, these products can be installed throughout all of Australia (including New South Wales).

The Steele is built to take heat and handling. Wipe it down with a damp cloth once cool; avoid abrasive cleaners that can mark the finish. As a mild steel component, re-season it occasionally along with the firebox by running a small fire to drive off surface moisture, and keep it dry when the unit isn’t in use to prevent surface rust.
Handle the latch with care when it’s hot and use a heat glove when dropping the door in or lifting it out during a fire.
