Use, maintenance and care
The Gr8 is cast iron and lasts well when looked after like any cast iron cookware. Before first use, season it: wipe a thin layer of high-smoke-point oil over the surface and heat it until it stops smoking, then let it cool. Repeat occasionally to maintain the non-stick surface.
After cooking, let it cool, then scrape off residue and wipe clean with a damp cloth or stiff brush. Avoid soaking it or using harsh detergents, which strip the seasoning. Dry it straight away to prevent rust, and wipe over with a light coat of oil before storing. Keep it dry and under cover between uses.
The stainless steel components can be wiped down with a damp cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners.
