Shieldit
The Billy Smoker Shieldit (Enclosure Shielding System) is a pre-made steel heat shield for inbuilt installations of Billy Smoker Open Fire Cookers. It protects the non-combustible enclosure materials around the firebox, such as cement, from excessive heat, reducing the degradation that heat can cause over time.
Because it replaces the need to build an internal shielding system from scratch, the Shieldit makes inbuilt installs faster and cleaner. Paired with a Fascia (sold separately), it lets the Chef be slid into place after the enclosure is built. It can also be used for Artist installs, though those need additional cladding to cover the top front of the firebox once the unit is in position.
No modifications to the cooker are needed, and each Shieldit is made to suit the specific model. Available in mild steel (industry-standard finish) or stainless steel (minimal corrosion). Clearances to combustibles must comply with AS/NZS 2918.

Once installed, the Shieldit is a fixed part of the enclosure and needs no routine maintenance. It sits within the built enclosure and isn’t a surface the user handles during cooking.
If any part is accessible, wipe it with a damp cloth to clear dust, and avoid abrasive cleaners on the finish. The mild steel version is painted in the industry-standard finish; the stainless steel version resists corrosion in exposed conditions. As with any inbuilt fire installation, keep clearances to combustibles compliant with AS/NZS 2918 and have any installation work carried out by a trained dealer partner.
